Bring Pocket Bakery to the Central District

After 9 months of our pop-up bakery, Pocket Bakery, we are ready to move into a brick and mortar space. We need equipment for our bakery.

About the campaign

Pocket Bakery is raising money to buy equipment for our bakery. We need an oven, a large refrigerator, a bread mixer and work tables. Our plan is to create a thriving neighborhood space where people can enjoy breakfast and lunch made from the highest quality ingredients meticulously sourced from the Pacific Northwest. By building direct relationships with organic and sustainable farmers and makers, we plan to offer the most delicious baked goods to the Central District community. Pocket Bakery is committed to using varietal wheat grains that have higher nutritional value and off the charts flavor compared to traditional large scale wheat. Fairhaven Milling in Burlington WA, Camas Country Mill in Bend OR, Jubilee Farm in Carnation WA and Bluebird Grain Farms in Northrop WA are all suppliers of sustainably grown wheat that will be featured at the bakery. We also support small artisan producers like Cherry Valley Dairy in Duvall and Toboten Farm in Yelm. It is our pleasure and passion to work with like-minded food producers to build a sustainable food shed in the Northwest.

This funding campaign will allow us to create a permanent home for Pocket Bakery.

Every Saturday at my pop up, Pocket Bakery, I get to serve amazing food and connect with people in the Central District. My dream is to be able to do this every day, and Pocket Bakery is the vehicle for that. I want Pocket Bakery to be an enduring neighborhood business that serves the Central District by providing delicious, responsibly sourced food.

Baking is my life and I want to share that with the Central District.

Partner with community sourced capital

Community Sourced Capital exists so that businesses can access affordable capital from their community

By connecting community members, small business owners and mission-aligned funders to the goal of creating healthy communities, we’re introducing a new purpose for financial systems, removing barriers to success for entrepreneurs, and building meaningful relationships around money.

Providing affordable capital to community businesses is vital to our economy

Small businesses are the key generators of jobs in our economy and character in our communities. Everyone seems to know that. What most people don't know is how important funding is to the success of a business.

Even in this day and age, most small businesses simply cannot access the funding they need to succeed. New lenders have emerged to serve this need, but many of them charge equivalent interest rates upwards of 20 or 50 percent. These rates can compromise the stability of the businesses that ultimately provide stability to our communities.

Participate in a financial system for communities, by communities

Join a growing community of lenders regenerating their local economies through finance. Participate in a loan for a small business. Grow your business with your community. Invest in the success of your neighbor.

That's the spirit behind Community Sourced Capital's motto: Fund the world you want to live in.
