About the campaign

From Fresh Produce to Healthy, Great Tasting Food

At Britt's Live Culture Foods, we are committed to providing great tasting live-culture foods and to promoting the human health benefits that these foods have to offer. We use time-honored techniques, proprietary recipes and natural fermentation processes to ferment fresh vegetables and fruits in oak barrels. We believe in supporting our community so we use locally grown organic produce whenever possible. Our approach preserves the food while creating beneficial enzymes, B vitamins, Omega-3 fatty acids and various strains of probiotic bacteria. For millennia, cultures around the world have been eating fermented foods and recent medical studies show that there is a link between eating probiotic rich foods and overall health.

Here's the Scoop

We know you love Britt's Live Culture Foods and it appears that word is getting out - the larger world is discovering our fermented foods as well. Folks are beating a path to our door to get healthy food that tastes great - a good problem for us to have!

While our live culture fermented foods protect all of our digestive systems and overall health, we need your help protecting our bodies which prepare and package these delicious foods for everyone to enjoy.

Britt's employees are working their fingers to the bone at our Pack House, hand-packing jars of fermented product and screwing each lid on by hand, for orders as large as 10,000 jars. To meet demand and provide delicious and healthy fermented foods to everyone who wants some, we need packing equipment and a conveyor belt. Our hands would forever thank you.

Packing equipment and a conveyor belt will relieve our hands, and a fork-lift and trailer would relieve our backs.Presently, we use a rented truck to haul 600-lb oak barrels of pickles, sauerkraut and kimchi from the "Hatchery" (our fermentation house) across the road to the "Pack House." With a forklift and a trailer, not only would our backs be relieved, but we would be more efficient in getting our product from us to you. Consistent with our sustainability policy, we have identified a line of used packaging equipment which satisfies our production needs and is compatible with our current facility. With the help of your loan, Britt's will be able to purchase this equipment. It's simple:Britt's Live Culture Foods keep you healthy and your financial support keeps us healthy. You get the return of your loan and assurance that Britt's Live Culture Foods are available to all.

About Britts Live Culture Foods

Britt's specializes in making naturally fermented pickles, kimchi and kraut the old-fashioned way - in oak barrels using unique combinations of fresh herbs and spices. The oak barrels impart a particularly delicious crispness and the assortment of herbs and spices create tasty and satisfying flavors. Britt’s offers eight different fermented food products at PCC, Whole Foods, as well as some Seattle area co-ops and grocery stores. Britt’s also provides seasonal ferments at Britt’s Pike Place Market location and at Seattle-area Farmers’ Markets. We are a small company on Whidbey Island dedicated to our regional community of fermentation fans.

At Britt's we believe in fermenting and eating vegetables which are sourced from our region. We use local, organic ingredients in our ferments when they are available. We love teaching our community how to ferment vegetables grown in their gardens or obtained from their local farmers’ market and offer classes on home fermentation processes and techniques.

Britts Live Culture Foods was established in 2012, and is located in Clinton, WA.

Partner with community sourced capital

Community Sourced Capital exists so that businesses can access affordable capital from their community

By connecting community members, small business owners and mission-aligned funders to the goal of creating healthy communities, we’re introducing a new purpose for financial systems, removing barriers to success for entrepreneurs, and building meaningful relationships around money.

Providing affordable capital to community businesses is vital to our economy

Small businesses are the key generators of jobs in our economy and character in our communities. Everyone seems to know that. What most people don't know is how important funding is to the success of a business.

Even in this day and age, most small businesses simply cannot access the funding they need to succeed. New lenders have emerged to serve this need, but many of them charge equivalent interest rates upwards of 20 or 50 percent. These rates can compromise the stability of the businesses that ultimately provide stability to our communities.

Participate in a financial system for communities, by communities

Join a growing community of lenders regenerating their local economies through finance. Participate in a loan for a small business. Grow your business with your community. Invest in the success of your neighbor.

That's the spirit behind Community Sourced Capital's motto: Fund the world you want to live in.
