Culture Club's Commode Crusade!

Culture Club Cheese Bar is almost here! We just need a little more help from you to build out our bathroom.

About the campaign

First and foremost: thank you so much to everyone who supported our Kickstarter campaign. While we weren’t able to secure the lease in Ballard, we’ve started construction at an even better spot in Capitol Hill next to Outer Planet Craft Brewing! But you know what this new location doesn’t have yet? It’s a very important piece of restaurant infrastructure: The bathroom! We’re raising a $15k loan from you, our supporters, to help us build out the commode. With your help, we’ll be able to build one unisex, ADA compliant bathroom for the cheese bar.

We're almost there, folks! Help us with our Commode Crusade!

Here’s how the finances break down: The majority of Culture Club Cheese Bar’s funding came from the support of the Small Business Administration through a loan from Community Capital Development. The funds from Kickstarter helped built out the front of the house, and this loan from CSC will enable us to build out the bathroom. Help us get the last little bit of financing we need to open our doors this summer!

Did you miss our Kickstarter? Here’s what we’re up to: Culture Cheese Club is Seattle’s first cheese bar. We will select the best cheeses from all around the world (including those from right here in the Pacific Northwest) and perfectly pair them with beer, wine, and spirits. We’ll showcase seasonal cheeses in fun and unique ways, from simple Parmesan crisps to breathtaking mac n cheese made exclusively with the best fresh pasta around. We will melt your heart with winter time Raclette, then we'll cool your heels in summer with mouth-watering Burrata Caprese. How about a classic Frico to share with friends? You'll never look at fondue the same way once you've had it with rich Neal's Yard cheddars. Whatever your lactic craving, we promise to satisfy it and then some.

Partner with community sourced capital

Community Sourced Capital exists so that businesses can access affordable capital from their community

By connecting community members, small business owners and mission-aligned funders to the goal of creating healthy communities, we’re introducing a new purpose for financial systems, removing barriers to success for entrepreneurs, and building meaningful relationships around money.

Providing affordable capital to community businesses is vital to our economy

Small businesses are the key generators of jobs in our economy and character in our communities. Everyone seems to know that. What most people don't know is how important funding is to the success of a business.

Even in this day and age, most small businesses simply cannot access the funding they need to succeed. New lenders have emerged to serve this need, but many of them charge equivalent interest rates upwards of 20 or 50 percent. These rates can compromise the stability of the businesses that ultimately provide stability to our communities.

Participate in a financial system for communities, by communities

Join a growing community of lenders regenerating their local economies through finance. Participate in a loan for a small business. Grow your business with your community. Invest in the success of your neighbor.

That's the spirit behind Community Sourced Capital's motto: Fund the world you want to live in.
