We're opening our first Brick & Mortar, help us expand!

Verde & Co is opening it's first retail flower shop in South Lake Union and we're looking for help to get up and running!

About the campaign

Verde & Co. is growing! Our sales have more than tripled from 2014 to 2015, and we are full steam ahead with our retail build out within 400 Fairview. As we speed along towards our February opening, some unforeseen construction costs have eaten into our start-up operating budget. Up to this point we have funded this expansion through personal credit but the interest expense on this debt is prohibitively expensive and old school banks have shown little interest helping a small business like Verde refinance. This community loan would allow us to add final touches to the shop AND support our growth as we bring on additional staff and continue to purchase more of the most amazing local seasonal product in the Pacific Northwest.

Our goal is to create a thriving business that will enable us to offer career positions for floral designers that include a living wage and hopefully benefits down the road. Being the FIRST and ONLY flower shop in ever-expanding South Lake Union offers us a unique opportunity to reach new customers and expand our corporate client base. We have the added benefit of a fantastic shared event space and plan to offer a wide array of floral classes taught by our team and by guest designers from around the country. A large part of our growth plan involves going beyond daily florals into education and shared floral experiences.

We invite you to participate in our fundraising campaign – this is not a donation, it's a loan, and it's super easy. Buy a Square for any amount from $50 to $2,000. These funds are used to help us with the build out of our brick and mortar, and then we will pay you back over the next three years. With your help, we'll be able to open our new shop and achieve our goal of keeping Verde & Co. on sound financial footing.

Since we began this journey we've been fortunate to have so many of our friends help us along the way – hosting pop-ups, carrying flower buckets or just lending an ear when we needed to talk. By joining us in this next phase of growth, Verde & Co.'s success will continue to be shared across the community.

And please, stop by the shop to say "hi," we would love to thank you in person. You'll probably leave with a flower or two as a small token of our endless appreciation.

Partner with community sourced capital

Community Sourced Capital exists so that businesses can access affordable capital from their community

By connecting community members, small business owners and mission-aligned funders to the goal of creating healthy communities, we’re introducing a new purpose for financial systems, removing barriers to success for entrepreneurs, and building meaningful relationships around money.

Providing affordable capital to community businesses is vital to our economy

Small businesses are the key generators of jobs in our economy and character in our communities. Everyone seems to know that. What most people don't know is how important funding is to the success of a business.

Even in this day and age, most small businesses simply cannot access the funding they need to succeed. New lenders have emerged to serve this need, but many of them charge equivalent interest rates upwards of 20 or 50 percent. These rates can compromise the stability of the businesses that ultimately provide stability to our communities.

Participate in a financial system for communities, by communities

Join a growing community of lenders regenerating their local economies through finance. Participate in a loan for a small business. Grow your business with your community. Invest in the success of your neighbor.

That's the spirit behind Community Sourced Capital's motto: Fund the world you want to live in.
